The Caribbean’s largest fitness event, the Pan Caribbean’s Sigma Corporate Run scheduled for February 19, 2012, will see 15,000 walkers and runners and wheel chair participants comprising of companies and individuals. The 5.6 kilometre run is open to all and is designed to not only raise funds to support the development of the cardiac programme at the Bustamante Hospital for Children it is hoped to inspire camaraderie at the corporate level.
Partnered with the National Health Fund and Reggae Marathon, the Sigma Corporate Run 2012 will be held at the Emancipation Park in New Kingston and culminates with an awards ceremony.
Since the first staging of Pan Caribbean’s Sigma Corporate Run in 1999, charitable contributions of over $68 Million have been donated to several health and child-related charities. It is hoped that this year’s run will raise $50 million. This year’s patrons will be, Her Excellency The Hon. Lady Patricia Allen, The Hon. Danny Williams, OJ, CD and Dr. The Hon. Usain Bolt, OJ.
“Each year between 400 and 500 children are born in Jamaica with congenital heart disease. Of these, 50% require medical or surgical intervention or face a premature death. The current waiting list for cardiac surgery at the Bustamante Hospital is at least 150 children with 100 new patients added to the list annually.” It is against this back drop that the Pan Caribbean family through the Pan Caribbean Sigma Corporate Run focuses on the health and welfare of Jamaica’s segment of children who are ill.
The Corporate entry fee of $55,000 entitles each company to a maximum of 75 entries in either the walk, run or wheelchair events. Corporate teams with over 75 persons are requested to make an additional contribution of $700 per person. Your company will be billed for any additional entries. Registration closes February 3, 2012.
